In RAICESs' performances, a variety of native instruments are utilized - wind, percussion and string. The WIND family of instruments consists of the Zampoña, Toyos, Antara, Maltas, Rondador, Quena , (all primarily of NATIVE AMERICAN influence). The PERCUSSION instruments encompass the Bombo, Chajchas, Cajon Peruano and Palo de Lluvia or Rain stick (primarily of African influences); while the string instruments are composed of the Guitar and Charango  (primarily of SPANISH influences).

CHARANGO
The charango is a small ten string lute that originated in South America. The back of the instrument is traditionally fashioned from an armadillo.

ZAMPOÑAS
Is an ancient musical instrument based on the principle of the stopped pipe, consisting usually of ten or more pipes of gradually increasing length (and, at times, girth).

QUENA

The quena  is an Andean instrument of pre-millenerian origin. Thanks to its musical flexibility (being so adaptable and tunable in so great a variety of ways), it holds a position of substantial prominence.

The rondador is a set of chorded bamboo panpipes that produces two tones simultaneously. It consists of pieces of cane, placed side by side in order by size and closed at one end, and is played by blowing across the top of the instrument. The rondador is considered the national instrument of Ecuador.
